Week 3: the final project

Turning an idea into a company that ships.

Students built their own apps first, then collaborated on more ambitious agents, meaning programs you train to do a job and then leave to answer on their own, which used real-world APIs: the paid outside services an app plugs into, that teams had to budget for and integrate themselves. Building one meant training the agent, setting up a database, hosting the website, keeping it secure with private tokens, meaning secret passwords the code uses, and doing the design. Teams worked in roles like a modern startup, each appointing a CEO to run it, a CTO for the build, a CFO for the money and a marketing lead, inspired by Y Combinator. Every one is deployed on the public web and opens here exactly as its makers left it: a real problem, a named customer, a working prototype, tested on strangers and then pitched to an audience.
